A real 3D Solar System

The asteroid atlas adds the Sun and all eight planets, textured spheres, Saturn's rings, orbital paths, camera presets and object focus. Mouse, touch and keyboard controls support exploration and fullscreen viewing.

Planet positions use a documented approximate JPL reference model. Asteroid markers use bounded two-body visualization from published source elements. Body sizes are enlarged for visibility; the scene is not a precision ephemeris or an impact forecast. Source encounter and monitoring tables remain separate.

Smoother aurora colors

The OVATION globe now uses a higher-resolution display raster, missing-aware interpolation, softer opacity transitions and linear texture filtering. A source-cell display option remains available.

Clicks and exports retain the original NOAA grid values and source clocks. Smoothing does not add observations, increase source resolution or guarantee that an aurora will be visible at a particular location.

Controls, source details and credits

Use Space Weather → Asteroids or Aurora, then Full screen. Layers retains the native model, frame and display controls. The updated guide explains dates, model limits and the original evidence.

Planetary textures are credited to Solar System Scope / INOVE under CC BY 4.0; their colors and some unmapped terrain are illustrative. The locally hosted 3D engine uses Three.js under the MIT license.
