Native tracking, alerts and source reliability
Advanced workspaces now use a consistent action row: Explore, Put in Pro Brief, Set alert, Source details, and More. Explore opens the native full-screen view. More retains the existing AI, help, copy-link, pin and specialist actions. Selecting an item clearly distinguishes Track source updates from Save dated reference.
Select the actual item
Use a price/chart or country action, right-click a data item, or choose Put in Pro Brief on the workspace toolbar and click the item. Native companies use an exact SEC identity where connected; prices/funds keep provider listing identity. News records are captured from the exact returned source record with its original publication/provenance. Linked event selections follow the exact public record; private event notes are excluded. Public map popup contents and other eligible visible items can be saved as clearly dated display references.
Private case/report/portfolio controls, credentials, raw canvas pixels and third-party iframe contents keep their dedicated native handling. A dated display copy is not a newly verified event, live price or issued forecast. Missing source records remain unavailable instead of switching to another row.
Slow and unavailable sources
Market lookup now uses bounded discovery, quote and reference-enrichment stages. Partial results say which parts are incomplete. Missing quotes or country details are not invented. Retry lookup keeps the query; a same-query retry retains earlier results with their original dates. Cancel lookup cancels the UI request without replacing the selected instrument. A different query does not relabel old results as new matches. Unknown quote observation times remain unknown.
An earlier validated lookup can be retained during a source failure for a bounded period and is explicitly labelled. These controls improve failure handling; they do not make provider data real-time or guarantee upstream availability.
Alerts from tracked items
Choose Set alert on an item or in a Pro Brief card's menu. You can create:
- A threshold-crossing watch for a numeric source field with declared units.
- A material-change watch, in absolute units or percent from the initial/last delivered qualified baseline.
- A source-staleness watch, confirming a source marked stale or unavailable for the chosen interval.
- A saved news search for a subject, company or phrase.
Preview the source, choose the rule, cooldown and daily budget, then explicitly save/enable it. Watches live in My Watchtower → Watchlists; notifications use the existing Inbox. No email, SMS or third-party push is automatically created. The first healthy numeric value establishes a baseline; it is not an initial alert. A gap in data re-establishes that baseline on recovery. A unit/definition change requires review. Null and unavailable values never become zero, and percent change from a zero baseline is undefined.
Tracked-data checks run approximately every five minutes within bounded source capacity. Deferred checks are not classified as source outages. Cooldown, deduplication, per-watch limits and the existing shared10deliveries/day account budget apply. Source observation time is preserved when available; otherwise alerts explicitly compare checked source snapshots. Annual series can move to a new reporting year. These are research notifications, not trading instructions. Tracked-data watches deliver inbox alerts; daily narrative briefings use the existing news/evidence watches.
Saved data and recovery
Export your browser layout, or explicitly sync the Layout scope, to retain browser-only choices. Server saved-research backups cover saved snapshots and the daily workspace (including synced preferences); they cannot capture a browser layout that was never exported or synced.
The operator recovery procedure uses authenticated encryption, current owner and account-deletion checks, an empty restore target and an application maintenance window. Restored watches and automatic briefings start disabled for review. Pilot consent and measurements are not restored. Credentials, sessions, billing, financial holdings, case/share permissions, source collectors and forecast ledgers are outside that generic research restore. Use their dedicated recovery procedures.
Five-person usability pilot
The self-guided pilot uses the existing invitation and explicit-consent workflow under My Watchtower → Research pilot. An administrator can create individual invitations there. The organizer distributes them to five real testers. Testers report outcomes for tracking a price/country, adding a statistic, explaining a snapshot, finding a source and setting an alert.
Task Start/Submit records elapsed session time and explicitly submitted feedback, not browsing recordings or audited active-task time. Results are self-reports; automated engineering checks remain separate. Until participants submit results, the pilot is ready to run, not completed and not evidence of usability success.
