Connected source evidence, saved views, historical collections and public satellite imagery. The original terrain and planning methods remain documented in War Room terrain and planning methods.
| Source | What the image represents | Dates and resolution |
|---|---|---|
| Esri World Imagery | Satellite and aerial mosaics with location-specific contributors. | Detail and acquisition date vary by location. A current tile request is not a new image capture. Local metadata inspection shows the provider's date/resolution where supplied. |
| Copernicus Sentinel-2 L2A | Individual true-colour scenes, supplied through Microsoft Planetary Computer's public preview service. | RGB bands are10m; nominal repeat coverage is around five days, with clouds and processing/coverage gaps. The displayed acquisition time comes from the source scene. Cloud cover describes the whole source scene. The detailed multi-date basemap remains outside its footprint. |
| NASA GIBS | Daily MODIS/VIIRS corrected-reflectance mosaics. | Coarse daily observations; current-day coverage can be incomplete. High zoom enlarges the native image. The optional latest-day mode follows advertised available dates while the view is open; a historical selection remains fixed. |
| 3D globe, terrain and buildings | Native MapLibre projection/terrain and OpenStreetMap/OpenMapTiles building geometry. | Terrain is a composite DEM. Building heights use source tags, with a3m-per-level display estimate when missing. These are geometric visualizations, not photogrammetric building facades or a fresh survey. |
Imagery comparison uses two image dates/providers with the same event/reference overlay selection; the overlay time remains distinct from the image acquisition time. Web-Mercator imagery and existing terrain/area tools are limited to their supported latitude range.
Existing public infrastructure, commodity and incident sources retain their identifiers and provenance. References and representative coordinates are not observed asset impacts. Country/region anchors inferred from reporting are kept as unmapped context. Nearby links use geodesic distance between representative points; ownership/operator links are explicitly source-reported. Links do not establish causation.
The public archive retains versions of bounded source records and the first immutable retained collection per UTC hour, with up to90days of history. The latest current collection is separate. Capture time, source observation/publication time and validity/expiry retain separate meanings. Collection additions/removals do not establish newly occurring/resolved events. Available history starts at actual retained captures. Saved case citations and pinned snapshots remain stable.
Local scenes are browser/account scoped. Cloud scenes, cases and sites require eligible signed-in access. Explicit sharing is recipient-bound and view-only or editable, with revision checks and revocation. A scene shares map settings; personal site inventories remain separate. Sharing a case explicitly includes its pinned evidence and notes.
Enabled area watches are evaluated by the server against eligible mapped source records at approximately five-minute collection intervals. First successful source collections establish a baseline. Stale, expired, unlocated and unsupported-severity records do not become qualifying observations. Notifications describe records new to a watch's collected evidence or changed source records. They are retained in the private inbox; no external email, SMS or push delivery is implied. Retention is bounded by time, record and storage limits.
The structured command assistant interprets supported place, radius, preset and time expressions into visible filters, and summarizes selected evidence with citations. It does not invoke a paid language model or independently verify source claims.
