Connected spatial intelligence

Map-aware Sentry, shareable views, authored briefings and source-qualified spatial layers. Implementation edition: 31 October 2026. This date does not change the age of any observation, forecast or reference.

Start with a map

Open a supported native map and use Explore · Sentry (or Explore map). Share view copies a bounded view recipe. Briefing opens the authoring controls. Data layers opens forecast fields, observed weather, fire perimeters and navigation-integrity context on supported 2D maps.

Native map controls remain the source of layer state. Provider-owned embedded maps and unsupported renderers retain their own controls. Shared links can open a camera even when a source object is no longer reporting; unavailable selections are reported rather than replaced.

Map-aware Watchtower Sentry

Sentry remains an administrator preview. Open its dock and explicitly choose Start talking. Mute, End conversation and Close & end are available. Navigation between native map workspaces can retain the current conversation. Account/access changes, application replay, hidden documents and closing the dock end or suspend the applicable operations.

The assistant receives bounded camera/layer context and reviewed public record fields, including source timestamps and a selected object when available. This is structured context, not automatic image interpretation: screenshots, private GIS file contents, private scene assets, credentials and private provider results are not supplied by the map-context projection. Unknown renderer sources fail closed. Counts are bounded rendered/loaded records, not a census of activity.

Examples: “Take me to Vancouver in Canada on the Weather map”; “Show the GFS temperature field in this area”; “Explain the selected object and its source time”; “Capture this view as a briefing shot.” Ambiguous place names return choices. Navigation and source-layer tools return their actual result; a missing object, unavailable source or partially loaded overlay is not reported as full success.

Voice uses the existing ElevenLabs account and allowance. The same agent retains its established Watchtower research tools and price instructions. Map actions are available only when the Watchtower client announces that capability; another client does not gain access to a remote user's map.

Shared views and time

A view recipe includes the supported map, camera, native public toggles, selected source identity and an additional source-overlay recipe where present. It contains no credentials or private file bytes. Opening a link uses the recipient's own access and current source availability.

A live view link is not a historical evidence archive. Model run time, forecast valid time, source observation/publication time, orbital calculation time, retrieval time and the time a view was captured remain distinct. A requested NOAA observation frame may no longer be available later. Missing or unavailable source selections remain explicit.

Briefing authoring

Capture views, name camera anchors, edit travel/hold durations and notes, preview shots, seek the timeline and play the story. Longitude and orientation take short arcs where supported. Camera travel is an authored presentation, not an observed movement, terrain-following route or causal connection between events.

Source cards retain admitted fields and clocks from the captured public records. Live map data and source-overlay recipes may refresh independently. Existing Infrastructure Map Briefings remain available; the expanded authoring format is watchtower-map-briefing-v2.

Assets and sharing

GeoJSON and PNG assets have declared attribution/licence information and per-shot selection. GeoJSON rendering is bounded to 500 features and 20,000 coordinate positions per file. PNG placement uses author-supplied geographic bounds; it is not independently georeferenced. Images are limited to four megapixels and 2 MiB per file.

Scene JSON is limited to 1 MiB; bundles to 24 MiB of JSON, eight files and 2 MiB per asset. Bundles carry SHA256 and exact byte counts. Import preview verifies structure and integrity before replacing the project. Unsupported formats, corrupt bytes and stale previews preserve existing work. Asset formats are checked again before rendering; files cannot supply scripts, fetch endpoints or credentials.

Scene JSON contains references but no asset bytes. Asset bundles include the complete files you supplied, including fields not displayed on the map. Export them only when you intend recipients to receive those files and have the necessary rights. Imported bytes remain session-local; reimport a bundle after a page reload to restore those bytes. Map tiles, live camera frames and provider media are not automatically bundled.

Forecast fields

SourceProduct and processingMeaning and limits
NOAA GFSFixed public GRIB objects; bounded inventory/byte-range reads. 10 m U/V wind; optional 2 m temperature or mean-sea-level pressure.Forecast run and valid time are retained. Quarter-degree input is resampled to a one-degree display grid. This is not a surface-station observation.
ECMWF Open IFSFixed Open Data inventories and bounded GRIB ranges. Same-cycle wind/scalar fields and units are checked.CC BY 4.0 and ECMWF terms apply. Model coverage and availability are bounded; no ensemble or universal forecast-skill claim.

Requests use the published step nearest the request time for the selected available run. Wind is metres/second at 10 m; temperature is °C at 2 m; pressure is hPa at mean sea level. Display stride samples decoded grid cells to bound browser work. Animated glyphs illustrate one forecast field; they do not advance forecast time or simulate observed aircraft, vehicles or air parcels. An unavailable optional scalar does not become zero.

Forecast decoding runs in one bounded disposable worker. Metadata and source caches have finite budgets; source denials pause collection and failures retain qualified dated data only within stated age limits. A source refresh does not silently substitute another model.

NOAA GFS source · ECMWF Open Data · CC BY 4.0. This service is based on data and products of the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). Modified: resampled and displayed with bounded sampling. ECMWF does not accept liability for errors, omissions or use of its data/products. No endorsement is implied.

Observed NOAA imagery and playback

Selected products share an observation-time target. Each uses an advertised frame at or before that target within its allowed gap. Images are staged before changing the displayed target; a missing product is hidden rather than left looking current. Native source/product times are shown separately. Forecast wind does not follow this observed-history clock.

At most 26 advertised recent times per product are admitted. Map previews are 1024×768 WMS images requested in EPSG:3857 for MapLibre placement; display resolution depends on the selected area. The source may have gaps or return transparent pixels. Metadata time is the product/frame reference, not proof every pixel was measured at that exact instant.

Wildfire perimeters

NIFC WFIGS supplies US interagency incident perimeters. The default filter requests source updates within 30 UTC calendar days; the reader allows 1–365 days. A catalogue named “Current” can contain older or contained incidents. Each record retains its perimeter update time and an explicit lifecycle qualification.

Outlines are source-published and simplified at a 0.001-degree tolerance. They are not FIRMS thermal detections, evacuation areas, independently surveyed boundaries or damage/insured-loss estimates. Missing or future/unqualified update clocks are withheld from the selected time window. Pagination follows upstream source rows even when records are omitted; each page is independently captured and does not freeze the entire external service.

Navigation-integrity context

A bounded 250-nautical-mile adsb.lol snapshot supplies aircraft-reported NIC/NACp and GPS-loss facts under ODbL 1.0. Qualifying position ages are bounded and source snapshot clocks retained. The GEV-derived threshold classifier is explicitly unvalidated; low quality can have multiple causes. It does not confirm jamming/spoofing, locate an emitter or establish who caused an anomaly. Last-good GNSS positions may be used when the source supplies them during reported GPS loss.

Expanded transport sources

The existing reviewed transit and camera interfaces now include qualified adapters for Guelph, Kingston, Burlington and Norway's NPRA camera catalogue. Vehicle positions older than the existing freshness limit are excluded. Burlington supplied only expired vehicle reports at the qualification read; zero rendered vehicles is not absence of service. MiWay remains an explicitly inactive terms-verification candidate; YRT/Viva and Barrie remain inactive pending their operator acceptance/registration requirements.

Norway uses the provider-recommended CctvSimple_v2 OGC catalogue, not the retiring first simple publication. The capture is capped at 1,000 rows; larger source totals are marked partial. GeoJSON longitude/latitude is checked against the declared CRS84 storage and regional bounds. Fault/unavailable entries are withheld. Facing descriptions are place names, not bearings. Publication/update timestamps are catalogue metadata, not verified image-capture times. Stills are read on demand; no new video relay or footage recorder is added.

NPRA's public WFS/WMS documentation distinguishes the openly available OGC services from registered REST/SOAP access. Access controls on any other source remain in force.

By loading, using or redistributing Burlington data, you agree to the linked City terms. Redistributors must include those terms and ensure recipients agree to them. The source notice and terms link travel with the adapter's data.

Target-centric 3D presentation

Selected fresh public aircraft can use a representative attributed model. Model class/appearance is illustrative, not proof of an exact airframe or equipment fit. Source altitude and heading can be incomplete or approximate. Source-qualified satellite positions remain SGP4 calculations with element epochs, not direct sensor observations. Nearby context covers a bounded set of loaded records and uses ground distance.

At the 31 October qualification, the existing CelesTrak collection was paused and retained early-October elements. Default age gates withheld those positions. The existing explicit aged-element research option can admit older estimates up to its stated bound; context retains the epoch, element age and uncertainty qualification. This release does not reset that source pause or represent old elements as fresh tracking.

Camera frusta use explicit user-estimated facing, field of view and reach, with stated ellipsoid-height assumptions. Terrain, buildings, actual optics and visibility are not established; this is illustrative geometry, not a calibrated viewshed. Models and added geometry are released or hidden with their relevant view/session lifecycle.

MCP, exports and retention

/agent/api/spatial-intelligence exposes reviewed catalog, wind, weather, perimeters and integrity JSON views. Discover current parameters through the MCP catalogue. The metadata reader rejects binary image requests. New public source responses can supply a map-view recipe link; it does not authenticate a historical snapshot.

Native source pages and snapshot guards differ from MCP JSON Pointer/field/text pages. Wind/integrity return at most 1,000 records per native page; perimeters at most 200. Source bounds and stale/partial/unavailable states remain authoritative. Native exports retain values, units and clocks.

Successful shared reads can enter the existing bounded evidence archive and its search path. Retention begins with actual admitted collection; it is not invented backfill or guaranteed complete history. Images, voice state, private projects, credentials and private provider data are excluded. Presentation recipes and raw query-interest fields are omitted from new native shared-source captures. Storage/capacity pauses preserve prior evidence.

Software provenance and verification scope

Selected source adapters and algorithms were adapted from MIT-licensed God's Eye View commit a725178. ecCodes WASM 2.48.2 is Apache-2.0. Existing Watchtower viewer/parser notices and earlier GTFS/satellite algorithm credits remain applicable. Non-commercial cable, GhostMaps and Nepal-event bundles were not imported. Provider data and visual assets retain their own terms.
