Political news, country context and legislative records

Global Politics → Political news, Bills & legislation, or World map → Layers. Methods reviewed 18 October 2026.

Worldwide directory, source-specific coverage

All 250 existing country/territory directory entries are selectable. Current reporting depends on usable reviewed public publisher feeds and collected public account posts. Empty country coverage means no accepted matching records in the selection, not that nothing happened. Private feeds and directory-only accounts are excluded.

The initial official legislative adapters cover the UK, Canada, United States, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark and Brazil. They provide bounded recent parliamentary publications or listings, not complete national, subnational or historical registers. Other jurisdictions have an explicit structured-source gap; reporting about their legal developments remains separately labelled.

Map and text screening

Multilingual political/election/legislative terms screen original headlines and short feed excerpts. Country names, translated names and a reviewed set of political institutions/entities associate reports with country context. Longest text matches and ambiguous-name exclusions reduce false matches; automated associations can still be wrong or absent. Publisher headquarters are not used as the subject location. One report can match several countries.

Map markers sit at country-directory reference anchors. These are not reported event coordinates, precise incident locations, capital-location assertions or sovereignty determinations. Reports without a usable country association stay in the global list. Counts refer to canonical source records; separate sources may describe the same event.

Collection and retention

A scheduled collector checks usable existing public feed buckets approximately every five minutes. Official adapters refresh every 30–60 minutes with bounded requests, persistent pauses/backoff and dated retained fallback. Source health and actual capture dates are visible. A refreshed collection does not make old source content new.

News metadata is retained up to 30 days; official records up to a year since last seen, subject to a combined 30,000-record bound. The default legal view filters the retained year by source date. UK/US/Sweden/Denmark/Brazil adapters initially admit bounded recent selections; Ireland reads a bounded current-year selection. Canada uses the source's current federal bill listing. These are not complete archives. Full source text is not republished.

Country coverage, sources, dates, selection totals and omitted bounds are included in the APIs. Records paginate against a native snapshot; if collection changes, pagination rejects the old snapshot and restarts. Export uses one consistent snapshot.

Alerts and MCP

Create alert opens the existing account-scoped Alert Center with the selected country, topic, stage, source and text filters. Review and save the draft. The Increases condition watches newly discovered or revised record sequences; the first observation establishes a baseline. Retention-related decreases do not trigger. Unknown/unavailable inputs are not converted to zero. A zero available sequence means no retained matching change-ledger entries, not no political developments.

Ledger observations describe when Watchtower observed a change, not publication, passage or legal effective time. Monitoring runs in the visible, authenticated browser and pauses during replay, hiding, account changes or lost access. It is not a 24/7 server push service. Popup and sound are configured through the existing alert engine.

MCP discovery exposes /agent/api/political-news and /agent/api/legislation with records, map, detail, coverage, sources, changes and alert projections. Native dataset pagination is separate from MCP JSON-pointer pagination; retain both snapshots as documented. The existing public Bank CDS reference is also discoverable. Private account/workspace/provider and financial-operation routes remain excluded.
