Interface and data-collection audit

Scope and method

The audit covers the 79 registered Watchtower workspaces, guest and Free Brief entry flows, Pro workflows, and 288 distinct inventoried public page URLs. Desktop 1440 px, tablet 800 px and mobile 390 px app layouts were checked at top, middle and bottom; Help was additionally exercised at 320 px. Public documents and website pages were checked in desktop/mobile light-mode contexts.

Checks include visible control geometry, clipping, headings, unintended dark surfaces, representative dialogs, source-filter navigation and reading-position restoration. Closed disclosures, intentional modal layering, fixed navigation clipping and geographic data-marker collisions are distinguished from ordinary control collisions. Photography and deliberately contrasting marketing showcase panels are not recolored as data-free interface errors.

Private identities and state are isolated in qualification. The retained native Pro Brief workflow test carries actual browser headers/body through installed authentication, owner and capability handlers with synthetic accounts; public evidence and the existing read-only index are real. No customer credentials, purchases or paid model calls are used. These are recorded tested states, not a guarantee of every browser, physical device, private record length or future provider response.

Interface changes

Help and Report Error are available through the top Help menu. The floating launchers are removed, and Help stays visible on small screens. Native report submission and tour behavior are retained, including operation above another dialog and Escape returning to the underlying draft.

Workspace action bars occupy normal layout space and wrap with their container. Monetary filters use their available panel width. Map attribution links retain their sources and receive dedicated space above/below other controls. The browser-support page now has a readable light background and properly spaced navigation.

Back and Forward buttons use a bounded, account-scoped, in-memory workspace history. Supported native view/filter settings and scroll positions are restored. Changes of account, verification/replay state, or manual scrolling cancel inappropriate restoration. This is navigation state, not a frozen source-data snapshot.

Published reports, dated manuals and source-methods documents open in a responsive light/dark reader. It remembers the reading position in the current tab session and preserves original source dates, links and edition identity. Original document downloads and programmatic reads retain their exact bytes; archived HTML/PDF/JSON editions are not rewritten. The reader accepts only reviewed public document path shapes and disables document scripts.

An obsolete public candidate-app URL leads to the current Watchtower app. The audit was refreshed against the current Social reporting, data-quality, map-access stability, CBDC, Credit Watch, Global Markets search and My Watchtower releases before activation.

How collection works

Watchtower has several distinct layers:

1. Scheduled server collectors run independently of an open browser. Their configured intervals, last triggers and last exits are listed below. A successful process can still report partial upstream coverage.

2. Public API handlers serve cached or materialized source views, with ordinary on-demand refresh, provider throttling/backoff and source-specific expiration. Refreshing a view does not create a new observation.

3. The normalized data-point catalogue combines current source snapshots and reference definitions. Its shared assembly cache default is ten minutes; specialist expiration is requalified at serve time, with qualified prior snapshots during coalesced ordinary refresh. Checked/retrieved/generated times are distinct from observation/publication dates and source periods. The primary-observations handler performs ordinary due checks for OFR at six hours and USGS at fifteen minutes, with separate source-observation expiry and provider backoff; it does not add a scheduled timer.

4. The browser schedules view refreshes and local rendering separately. Ordinary live reads pause when the document is hidden or replay is active; many specialist feeds are workspace-dependent. Configured alert/globe dependencies and the optional background-feed preference can keep additional feeds relevant.

5. Search is a separate bounded materialization of reviewed retained snapshots/current views. Indexed excerpts can be older than a native live source. Catalogue coverage is not complete record coverage.

The audit used ordinary reads without source-force parameters. Those reads can exercise normal cache-refresh behavior. Recorded successful timer exits and dated source snapshots are evidence of their observed state; they do not prove an uninterrupted future collection cycle.

Scheduled jobs

At 2026-10-25T16:16:32.640205+00:00, all 49 inspected Watchtower-related timers were active and had recorded triggers. Their service Result fields reported success; 42 services also supplied a recorded exit timestamp. A success-valued Result on a currently running service without an exit timestamp is not proof that its current cycle has completed. This includes collection, indexing, report publication and maintenance jobs; it is not a count of independent data providers.

OnUnitActiveSec is measured from the prior activation; OnUnitInactiveSec is measured after completion. Startup delays and jitter are separate. Calendar schedules below retain their configured timezone.

Browser refresh defaults

The current runtime registers 51 shared data-refresh tasks. These are browser/API polling defaults, not claims that an upstream publisher produces new observations at that rate. Lazy-loaded specialist modules may also manage their own native refreshes.

Observed data-point availability

At 2026-10-25T16:16:37.586Z, the ordinary public normalized response contained 395 points:

These are registered definitions, not independent current observations. The strengthened registry retains definitions through missing/expired/inactive values; available values and states vary. 154 rows lacked a top-level observation/publication timestamp; reference periods or record-level clocks can be supplied separately. A checked timestamp must not be interpreted as a new source observation.

Reviewed route checks

The reviewed catalogue contains 211 routes. The bounded audit ran from 2026-10-25T15:17:57.509Z to 2026-10-25T15:24:37.965Z, with two readers, a 45-second request deadline and a 4 MiB response-inspection bound. Reviewed native example parameters were used without adding generic row limits to views that do not accept them.

The bulk infrastructure export was deliberately not executed. A direct feature lookup needs a real captured feature ID. The anonymous linked-events native request requires access; this is not evidence of a failed collector. Successful bounded responses do not certify complete datasets or every nested source.

Search-index coverage

Read-only metadata inspected at 2026-10-25T16:16:37.573098+00:00 reports a materialization time of 2026-10-25T15:31:50.412Z, 1,000,000 indexed records against the 1,000,000 record bound, 177 sources with indexed content, 34 catalogue-only sources, and 35 bounded source captures.

The index is at its record bound. Catalogue-only sources can still have directly browsable native data; absence from the retained-record index does not establish source absence. Index time, snapshot capture time and observation time remain different clocks.

Operational follow-ups and limits

Provider/configuration gaps need source-specific follow-up and, where required, properly entitled credentials. Failed or bounded source probes should be reviewed with their native source metadata. The saturated search index needs a reviewed coverage/retention decision before expanding its bound.

The backup job is an operational exception: a separate read-only check at 2026-10-25 16:19 UTC found the same invocation still activating since 2026-10-08 03:20 UTC, with a running SQLite child and no completed-exit timestamp. Its start timeout is unlimited. This warrants backup-completion and resource-use investigation; a success-valued service Result is not a verified completed backup. The audit does not interrupt the database operation or claim a restore test.

Live data and provider availability can change after these timestamps. Public documents are read through a presentation layer so their historical editions stay verifiable. Private customer content, external provider-owned interfaces, physical devices and all possible expanded-control combinations are outside the evidence of this automated/rendered-state audit.
