Global Markets & Data Search
Open Advanced / Investigate → Global Markets. The new search combines global instrument discovery with the reviewed Watchtower data catalogue, published data points and retained indexed source records.
Search beyond the movers on screen
- Enter a company, exact listing symbol, indicator, country or topic.
- Choose an instrument class or data-domain/source filter if needed.
- Select Search globally. Typing alone does not send a provider search.
- Switch between Instruments, Data points, Source records, and Datasets & fields, or keep All results to see each section.
The worldwide-equities and other market snapshot filters now have a Search globally action; pressing Enter hands the same query to this search. Their local filter still describes only the rows currently loaded, while the global action queries the broader discovery services.
Use Expand search for a full-screen research workspace. Your query, result selection and source inspector remain part of the same search.
Try Apple, RY.TO, 7203.T, 0700.HK, VOD.L, SAP.DE, RELIANCE.NS,
SPY, EURUSD=X, BTC-USD, GC=F, inflation, or US deficits 2026.
Provider availability and source matches vary; examples are not guaranteed live quotes.
Instruments and listings
Public Yahoo Finance discovery covers supported equities, ETFs, funds, indices, currencies, futures and crypto; TradingView adds recognized equity venue candidates. Queries are sent to those providers without Watchtower cookies or account credentials. The server requests up to30candidates from each provider, includes an exact-symbol fallback when applicable, and bounds the retained discovery at90candidates.
More instruments pages eight at a time through one five-minute discovery snapshot. Quote reads are separately bounded and source-dated; a page can have missing quotes or partial provider coverage. An expired or mismatched snapshot requires a new search. This is global discovery, not a complete exchange security master or a guarantee of real-time market data.
Check the exact symbol, asset class, exchange, currency and observation time. Cross listings are separate instruments. Company-country reference and listing country are different; unsupported TradingView venue conversions are excluded rather than assumed to be a US listing. GBP and GBp, index points, futures units and FX direction remain distinct. A missing observation time stays unknown.
Open Charts for the native instrument view. Its existing actions can track that exact supported selection in Pro Brief or configure an explicit alert.
Watchtower data and evidence
- Data points searches all definitions returned by the native public point registry: IDs, labels, descriptions, units, source names and workspace associations. Inspect a result to read its current source-qualified value and underlying fields.
- Source records searches the existing permission-aware retained index. Records include indexed fields, articles, events and source excerpts, with provenance. Old indexed prices or rating references are not automatically current quotes or certified current ratings. More records uses native pagination; if the index generation changes, rerun the search rather than mixing pages silently.
- Datasets & fields searches every reviewed source definition available through the catalogue, including catalogue-only sources with no indexed matching records. Open a dataset, set its source-native filters, then browse or search the fields and values in the returned response.
The Search coverage & source dates panel shows current source/point counts, index materialization time and indexed/catalogue-only/bounded coverage. The current retained index is bounded at one million records; native histories and source pagination can extend beyond it. This does not mean all information in the world is indexed. Private account data, unreviewed feeds and licensed-only provider data are not admitted to this public evidence search.
Inspect fields without leaving Global Markets
- Choose Browse source & fields or Inspect data.
- Review source state, values, units and distinct observation/publication/snapshot/ retrieval clocks. Definitions and original fields are in an optional disclosure.
- For a dataset, expand Source-native filters & pagination. Use the documented read-only view, query, country, year or returned identifier required by that source. Apply source filters updates the preview.
- Select Browse / search source fields. Search a field name or value, open nested objects/arrays, or select Preview this field / record.
- The preview keeps stable record identity, original unit, reporting period and status when supplied. Anonymous array values require an explicitly dated reference.
More fields pages the selected response, not the source's entire history. Source-native offset/cursor/snapshot controls are independent and remain visible. Field traversal and source responses are bounded; unavailable and missing data remain explicit, not zero. Some definitions require an exact ID before they can return data. A bulk-only route may not be eligible as a Pro Brief feed.
Save and continue researching
Put in Pro Brief uses the existing owner-bound saved board and keeps Global Markets open. A stable field tracks that source identity; a retained indexed record is a dated reference. Anonymous selections use the native explicit snapshot path. No watch or alert is enabled automatically. Existing card limits and layout/snapshot validation still apply.
Delays, cancellation and account changes
Results arrive independently: a slow market provider does not block searchable Watchtower evidence. Retry the failed section, refine the query, or use Cancel. Source dates on retained results stay unchanged. Instrument discovery is bounded to7seconds, quote enrichment to6seconds and optional country enrichment to1.5seconds; upstream availability still varies. Existing rate/capacity controls apply.
Search state and inspectors clear on account/replay transitions, and late responses are fenced. Each private facade request uses the current verified owner. This search does not require paid AI and does not rebuild the index or force source collectors.
