Add data from across Watchtower

Open Pro Brief → Add data. The library now has four clear choices:

Search results are paginated. More matching records continues the record search; More sources / points continues the catalogue. Domains cover markets, politics, conflict, infrastructure, weather, health, mobility and Watchtower intelligence. From a workspace toolbar, Add data to Pro Brief opens its applied source when an adapter is available, or the source library filtered to its navigation mapping. Unapplied form edits are not treated as an applied source selection.

Add a whole view, one record or one field

  1. Choose Browse data / fields on a source.
  2. Open an object or collection, or use Find to search nested fields and values in the returned response. Source views, filters and history exposes the source's own supported parameters without requiring a JSON expression.
  3. Use Preview / add on the field or record you want. Check the value and its source context, then Add this field / record. Preview / add this view keeps a whole source selection as a card.

Source-provided record identities are retained through array reordering. If an ID is missing or becomes ambiguous, a card reports that condition instead of switching to another row. Parent units, scale, period, definitions and qualifications travel with selected fields. Zero, false and null remain distinct. A parent currency is not automatically assigned to every numeric field.

Some arrays have no reliable record identity. For those, Add dated snapshot saves the exact preview under your account. The source fingerprint is checked before saving. A saved snapshot is labelled with its save/source dates and does not become a live observation. Find or delete it under My data → My saved data snapshots. Private source permissions are rechecked when reading a snapshot; access loss or removal of its private source can make the card unavailable. Snapshot storage is bounded to100items,64KiB/item and5MiB/account. Account deletion removes these records.

An unavailable field can be added as a clearly labelled availability card. No zero or substitute value is manufactured. Source filters and permissions still apply.

Search references and source histories

Add this search as a card keeps a cross-Watchtower query on your board. An individual indexed hit can also be added as an exact retained reference. Its observation/publication, source-snapshot and index times remain separate. Indexed excerpts are not certified current ratings or live quotations. Open live source lets you inspect the current source response and select a field there.

The current routing audit covers209reviewed public datasets. The retained index has a1million-entry bound; at inspection178sources had indexed content and31had catalogue-only entries. The library displays current coverage, limits and gaps. Every source remains browsable independently of index coverage. Native source histories and pages can extend beyond the index: Next source-data page uses the source cursor/offset/snapshot, while More fields / records pages through the field browser. These two kinds of pagination are independent.

Bulk infrastructure downloads use their bounded data-source representation in the brief. Binary playback/tiles and administrative or credential operations are not converted into data values. Unconnected/licensed sources retain their normal access requirements; this feature does not activate a vendor entitlement or force a source refresh. Search queries do not run paid AI or generate/purchase reports.

Layouts and privacy

Drag, resize, Undo and the simple board editor remain available. Version3 bindings read version1/2 layouts without rewriting stored settings. Explicit edits save the new schema under the same verified-owner key; account Layout sync uses the shared validator. Older clients refuse the unsupported format rather than silently losing record identities. No guest/other-owner settings are imported automatically.

Private source reads use their native permissions and expected-owner checks. The personal tab searches bounded current collections and eligible case/brief content; unavailable collections are disclosed. Credentials, billing controls and server operations are not research datasets. Account changes, replay and revoked access cancel pending results. Layout definitions contain references rather than snapshot payloads or credentials.

Replace one value with Advanced Watchtower data

In Pro Brief, click a displayed value or its ↔ Replace button. The picker shows Replace only this value and names the original value. Choose a data point, record, field, dataset view or saved search, preview it, then select Replace this value. Other values in the same card, its position and its size stay the same. Links, source controls, text selection and drag handles keep their existing actions; use the ↔ button beside linked text.

The replacement has its own label, units, source dates and source details, and is marked Personal replacement. It changes your brief's presentation, not the underlying model, source observations, alerts or Advanced workspace calculations. Use Replace again, Restore original, or the board's Undo. Cancel/Close keeps the existing value. Use a card's Edit control when you want to change the whole card rather than one value.

Find data from Advanced workspaces

Add data → Advanced workspaces lists all78workspace names with their associated datasets and registered points. Choose Browse this workspace data. The source library covers209reviewed dataset definitions and the current registered-point catalogue; workspace associations are built from current module references, documented source links and reviewed mappings. Personal collections retain their native permissions.

The normal All Watchtower, Datasets, Data points and My data choices remain available. Browse source records and individual fields, source views, filters and native history. In Advanced, registered data-point cards now have Add to Pro Brief, which opens that exact point for preview and field selection. Workspace toolbars provide Add data to Pro Brief for applied selections or the workspace's mapped source library.

Available source measurements, text, booleans, missing values, records and nested collections can be selected. Source-native or locally derived presentation values must retain their actual definitions; a workspace association does not turn a client-side calculation into a new source measurement. Binary media, account/ credential operations and unconnected licensed feeds are not ordinary data points.

Stable placement and saved layouts

Value replacements are attached to the original field or record identity, not the next row number. If an original record disappears or its identity is ambiguous, its saved replacement is shown separately in that card and is not reassigned to another row. Anonymous records are tied to their source snapshot. Replacement source bindings retain their own existing stable-ID/fingerprint checks.

Changes survive reload, export/import and explicit account Layout sync. The version4layout reads existing version1/2/3 boards under the same account key and does not rewrite them just by opening the app. Older clients reject unsupported formats. Limits are32replaced values/card,64/board and the existing100KB layout bound. Existing24card and size limits remain. Account changes, replay, stale edits and late requests cannot apply a choice to a different value.

Global record search remains a bounded retained index. Source catalogue and native histories are independently browsable. Source dates, units, missing states and licensing requirements remain visible. Dated snapshots remain explicitly dated.
