The complete War Room in fullscreen
Full screen expands the complete War Room into the main browser viewport with a persistent Close full screen control. Browser fullscreen and a full-window fallback retain the same map, iframe, investigation draft and form controls on the primary paths.
A command deck keeps planning tools accessible. All controls brings together the original place/time, geography, imagery, saved-view, watch and drawing menus.
Independent global dam references
Choose Global Dam Tracker, GeoDAR or the GDW viewer extract. GDAT provides 31,780 mapped locations from 35,140 published dam records; GeoDAR provides 24,783 dam references and 21,515 reservoir outlines; the GDW viewer extract provides 41,145 river/barrier reference locations. The catalogues overlap and are not automatically merged or counted as unique world dams.
Each source retains its own identifiers, coordinates, units, dates and missing-data qualifications. The GDW viewer extract has fewer fields and materially different capacity values than the published scientific archive, so its references are explicitly distinguished. GeoDAR has substantial missing capacity and name/height coverage. No catalogue includes every dam worldwide.
Transparent dam scenarios
Enter or explicitly select a volume assumption, released fraction and duration to inspect mass-balance sensitivity. Source-qualified references can be handed to the existing local terrain-connected stage/storage screen.
Catalogue capacity is not current or established releasable storage. These tools do not predict failure probability, engineered inundation, wave arrival, velocity or casualties. A verified downstream toe and explicit study assumptions remain necessary, and unshaded places are not established safe.
Terrain and historical evidence for places
About 1.34 million GeoNames references add named heights, passes, viewpoints, waterways, transport connections and selected medical facilities. These references do not establish control, access, operational status or protection.
Historical layers include NOAA cyclone tracks, significant earthquakes, volcanic catalogue events and tsunami coastal observations, NASA EONET events and dated COOLR landslide reports. Candidate-place profiles compare nearby evidence and gaps, with session comparisons, source-preserving exports and explicit investigation pins. No all-peril safe-location score is produced.
Sources and public access
The reviewed read-only public planning projection is available through Watchtower MCP, bringing the catalogue to 203 datasets. Source pagination and MCP paging remain distinct; private scenes, cases, sites, watches and shares are excluded.
GDAT, GeoDAR and GeoNames retain their CC BY 4.0 attribution. This product incorporates data from the GDW database © Global Dam Watch (2024), via the separately qualified viewer extract. NOAA/NASA sources retain their attribution, source clocks and reporting limitations.
