Ask for spot prices
Try “What is the latest gold spot price per troy ounce?”, “What is the latest silver spot price?”, “How much is silver spot in Canadian dollars?”, or “Compare gold and silver spot prices in US dollars.” Sentry uses the existing compact MCP price tool, so no ticker or technical command is needed.
Source and units
Gold and silver now use Gold API’s documented spot-price endpoint. Prices are per troy ounce, not a regular ounce, a futures contract or the retail price of a coin or bar. The default quote currency is US dollars; supported non-USD responses are labelled as provider currency conversions.
The returned timestamp is when Gold API last fetched its source. It is not an exchange last-trade timestamp. The provider does not supply a separate FX observation time for its currency conversion, and that limitation remains visible.
Freshness and verification
Responses are cached for thirty seconds and requests are paced. An unavailable feed does not cause a futures or dealer price to be substituted. Retained or older references remain labelled with their original timestamps.
Twenty automated adapter/regression checks and four real Sentry voice sessions verified gold, silver, Canadian-dollar conversion and a combined metals request. Existing Sentry administrator-preview access and MCP permissions remain unchanged. These are source-reported reference prices, not guaranteed executable trading quotes.
