Explore warnings worldwide

Open Weather Alerts to browse the new global explorer. Filter by country or territory, severity, current or upcoming timing, and original warning text. Results are paginated, and matching normalized records can be exported as JSON. Minor and unknown-severity warnings are included rather than discarded.

At launch, the country directory contained all 249 ISO countries and territories, with source links for 150 jurisdictions. The reviewed snapshot contained roughly 2,600 records. Counts combine CAP warning messages and Japan municipality/hazard states; they are not counts of independent storms or disasters. Coverage and active counts change with source publication.

Read the issuing authority’s information

The global CAP collection uses the Severe Weather Information Centre’s published worldwide index and retrieves the original public Actual CAP messages. Original language blocks, descriptions, instructions, severity, urgency, certainty and validity times remain available in details, alongside direct source links.

Japan is additionally connected through the Japan Meteorological Agency’s current 2026 warning format. Its national severity levels and status codes are retained, with the display mapping identified separately from CAP severity. The older Japanese warning feed was found to be out of date and is not used.

Use the global warning map

The global explorer supplies source CAP polygons to the existing command map. Country and severity filters apply to that warning layer, and the other forecast, observation, cyclone and marine layers remain available. Large boundaries may be simplified for display; full original geometry is retained in the linked source records and details.

Warnings without source polygons remain visible in the list. Country-centre markers are not substituted for affected areas. CAP circles are retained in details rather than converted into inferred warning polygons.

See coverage gaps and source age

Every country or territory has a coverage entry. A linked source, an empty result, a pending document and an unavailable connection have different meanings. There is no claim that every local warning in every country is publicly available or captured. Consult the named issuing authority for current local guidance.

Automatic collection checks are scheduled at five-minute intervals, subject to collection duration and source backoff. Publisher, collection, issue and expiry times are kept separate. Expiry is applied when records are read; CAP update and cancellation references are respected. Source failures retain dated evidence and show degraded coverage rather than declaring an all-clear.

Reload Watchtower to load the new explorer. Existing weather panels and other workspaces remain available.
