Open Geopolitical Futures beside War Room. The hotspot atlas, country/opponent dossiers, historical records, resource calculator, scenario tabletop, model track record and source catalogue work from the same selection. Compare country pairs, review terrain and disputed-claim references, and explore26regional study groupings or a custom pair.

Use history with its original meaning

UCDP state-based conflict and actor-pair histories cover1946–2025, with separate non-state, country-year, onset, termination, stated-issue, peace-agreement and external-support records. Each collection keeps its own period and record unit. Selected earlier historical cases provide mechanisms and counterpoints, rather than an invented complete historical training panel.

Source sideA/B labels do not identify an aggressor. Actor-stated political/religious objectives remain distinct from population affiliation, and historical polities are not silently assigned to every modern successor.

At release, the collection includes 2,816 state-based conflict-years, 3,518 opposing actor-pair years, 1,821 non-state actor-pair years, 1,928 actor identities, 1,786 stated-issue rows and 374 peace-agreement records. The country-year panel has 7,132 rows. These are separate source units and overlapping coverage, not a total count of unique wars.

Investigate demographic and resource pressure

Population and age-share projections through2050 sit beside dated water, land, agriculture and resource-rent measures. Adjust population, renewable-water availability, withdrawal per person and arable-area assumptions, and inspect the exact input years and formulas. These are conditional resource scenarios; they do not make scarcity or population growth an automatic cause of war.

The retained source collection has 216,182 numeric observations across 250 country/territory references; 215 have population projections through2050. On-demand recent political reporting is separately dated and attributed, and does not rewrite the historical model.

Compare strategic paths and test numerical claims

The tabletop builds a source-linked country-pair brief and competing directions of pressure. Explicit strategic rounds explore negotiations, access agreements, political/economic pressure, an assumed limited confrontation and standing down. Cooperation, contained confrontation and wider spillover are alternative branches with visible assumptions.

The historical numerical model has a separate, observable target: source-coded state-based event presence within country borders. Temporal validation, held-out tests and simple baselines are shown. It is not a forecast of who attacks whom; unqualified longer horizons stay unknown. New future projections retain actual issuance times, while initial prospective outcomes remain unresolved.

Keep the evidence and learn the workflow

Selection exports retain the source snapshot and scenario assumptions. The interactive Simple/Extended guide now includes a dedicated module, the new navigation entry and updated printable editions. Normal native access, fullscreen and account/replay protections apply.

Verified in the workspace

Source parsing, identities, missing values, resource arithmetic, temporal model cutoffs, API contracts and access boundaries were checked. Desktop, tablet and phone checks covered map selection, terrain basemaps, history pages, strategic rounds, exports, fullscreen, guide integration and account/replay transitions. The production data was freshly collected from the public sources; no paid AI generation or customer data was needed for verification.
