A dedicated tracking workspace
Air / Aviation now opens a new 3D tracking workspace with clustered worldwide positions, individual aircraft when zoomed in, callsign/registration/ICAO/type search, aircraft-class and ground-state filters, source military tags, position-age and altitude filters, aircraft follow controls and full-screen viewing.
Selecting an aircraft shows its reported coordinates, original position and contact times, separate geometric and barometric altitude, speed, track and available source information. Observed trails and altitude samples build from collected positions; gaps are not filled with invented motion.
Broader data with visible coverage
The collector uses ADSB.lol’s public API for global queries over enumerated aircraft types, globally military-tagged targets and listed regional supplements. The query register shows source availability and last successful collection times. Airport discovery uses the OurAirports reference dataset.
Coverage remains limited by receiver availability, aircraft equipment and metadata, query scope and provider access. Target counts are not counts of all flights worldwide. Unlocated targets remain distinguishable from mapped positions, and older observations retain their original clocks.
Tracking and evidence tools
Users can save up to 100 watched aircraft locally for the signed-in account and browser, filter the list to watched targets, export JSON/CSV selections and download observed trails. A complete retained normalized observation database is also available under ODbL 1.0, with ADSB.lol attribution.
The workspace releases its globe when hidden and supports graphics recovery. The separate aircraft feed on Watchtower’s other main map remains intact.
Open Aviation
Refresh Watchtower, open Air / Aviation, and choose an aircraft from the globe or searchable list. Use Sources to inspect the connected feed, query scope, update clocks and additional providers’ availability.
