Try the administrator preview
After reloading Watchtower in an administrator account, open Hand controls · Admin at the bottom left. Choose Start camera and grant browser permission. The first start downloads the self-hosted tracking model. Tracking begins in preview-only mode; select a map and choose Enable movement to control it.
Hold a thumb/index pinch and move to pan. Pinch with both hands and change their separation to zoom. In Scroll mode, extend the index and middle fingers and move vertically. A held open palm or Escape pauses movement; Stop camera releases the webcam. Minimize keeps a small preview and the pause/stop controls available.
Local processing and administrator access
Video processing runs in a browser worker using a pinned, self-hosted MediaPipe model. This feature does not record or upload camera frames. It requests video only, leaving existing microphone controls separate. Normal users do not receive the controls or start the tracking model through the feature.
A server-verified administrator check is required before starting and is renewed while active. Account/access changes, replay, hiding the page, or stopping the feature release its camera stream. Delayed or lost tracking does not continue a held movement. This pilot provides navigation, not gesture clicks, typing or account actions.
Pilot scope and testing
Automated checks cover the real local model on reference images, synthetic gestures, browser camera lifecycle, access denial and native map integration at desktop/mobile layouts. The 3D camera interface was checked separately with continuous software rendering paused in headless testing; heavy 3D rendering can cause the delay guard to hold movement.
Physical-webcam accuracy, lighting and comfort remain part of the administrator pilot. Current desktop Chrome or Edge is recommended. Start with one camera, good light and slow gestures; use the sensitivity control and keep mouse/keyboard controls available.
